What a reaction-time test is actually measuring, and which part of it responds to practice.
Most measuring tools of this kind hand you one number and stop. You learn whether you were fast or slow, but not what to practise next — that always bothered me. So these pages always show the cause side too: how much your reaction time varied, which direction your misses drifted, whether you faded in the second half, which characters tripped you up.
The second principle is that they should not only work for people who can press quickly. Colour-vision-safe palettes, a black-and-white plus shape mode, high contrast, larger text and targets, reduced motion, visual and haptic feedback in place of sound, a mode where hovering counts as a hit so no click is needed, and a one-handed mode. None of these were bolted on afterwards; they were in the design from the start.
